Jesus is better than you

I am sad that baseball season is over. Really sad. It's not technically over but to the masses in American sports it is. The day that Preseason Football starts is the day that Fantasy Football starts in America. Total attention is diverted to stat charts, injury rumors, who knows the playbook and who's connecting with who. National attention is diverted from
Iraq and towards Brady's relationship on the slant route with his #3 receiver.

The important factor remains though is how superior I am to everone else in fantasy. Now, I haven't won the title yet but it's only a matter of time. I mean, with six Giants on my team I don't see how I could go wrong?! So playing two leagues this year again it'll be interesting to see how it goes not running the other. In year four now with the 16 team league I started back when the Valley Ho opened and now still with 16 teams with 15 of them complaining of the scoring and number of teams. What they don't seem to realize is they now just have to pay attention to the league and not just the superstars. It just makes everyone a better fan overall. Nothing worse than an ignorant fan and there are lots of them out there.

So as the season starts tonight on the NFL's ratings grabbing Thursday night game the fantasy fans are out in full force but what they all don't realize is they already lost. Because Jesus drafted my fantasy football team.

Asking for too much??

I started this idea of attempting physical feats well over our physical abilities last year with our Rim to Rim to Rim test in December. While 47 miles in 24 hours in a blizzard is not simple feat it will pale in comparision to this years self imposed ridiculousness.

Nov. 7th-24 hour 4 man mountain bike race at McDowell Mountain Park. 10 mile loop with three teammates. Most loops as a team in 24 hours wins.

Nov. 14th-Phoenix Summit Challenge- City sponsored race to the seven highest peaks in the Phoenix. Under 8 hours.

Nov. 21st-Superstition Suicide Challenge-Hike to the summit of the Lost Dutchman, drive to Four Peaks Wilderness and to the summit of Browns Peak, drive to McDowell Mountain and hike to the summit. 12 hours.

Nov. 27th-28th-Rim to Rim to Rim attempt #2. Hoping for no rain or snow this year and under 20 hours. Did it in 24 hours 38 minutes last year. Dylan, Chris and Noah as our team. Brandon not planning on it this year.

Dec. 13th-Tuscson Marathon. 26.3 miles. Goal of 4:45 so I can qualify for the Mountain Mist 50K in January...

All of this is great and all while doign P90x. Finding the time to do 1 hour + in workouts and running and biking is next to impossible not to mention the affect it has in over training. The most frustrating part is that two weeks into running my right foot stated to feel strange and during my long run on Week 2 it got that much worse to where I had to walk. Two weeks later it is still there but in the last four days I have not felt it at all. It's very tempting to jump back in the running shoes but at what cost? I have 12 weeks until the marathon (my biggest concern) and 7 until the mountain bike race (concern #2). Maybe just a short run.....

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

With my natural tendency of reading multilpe books simulaniously I've yet to finish Aron Ralstons account of his life's acheivements surrounding his harrowing "I'll chop my arm off to save my life" story. Page after page he describes every accent and every narrow escape on solo hikes in random places. All the while I'm sitting around in the 100+ degree heat trapped like a prisoner in the oppressive air, not able to stretch out the legs anytime past 6am. The sheer risk of feeling my internal organs boiling from the inside as I stretch out mile after mile only to finish my run and collapsing in my bathtub.
This guy though, cut his own arm off. His own arm. After breaking it. Twice. Reading his account page by page and feeling yourself being in that very situation with him it's very difficult to think of what you would really do. Just incredible and now with only one arm he is making $37,000 a motivational speech. He was scraping by with two arms and now he is wealthy and doing everything he ever dreamed of doing outdoors with major sponsors and expeditions to Everest and Antartica. Talk about the Lord works in Mysterious ways..
